Company History – Associates West Real Estate Seattle, Inc.

Associates West Real Estate Seattle, Inc. was founded by current owner and President, John L. Wunder in 1979. He and three other licensed real estate professionals left another brokerage to start Associates West, a firm that would specialize in commercial & investment sales and leasing.

In the mid-1980’s, John’s property sales to investors had reached a point where many of his clients requested extended service in the form of ongoing property management. Consequently, in early 1989, John hired Karen O’Brien to perform full time property management and administrative duties for Associates West.

As business increased, various other staff members have been added to assist with the property management duties and in 1997, Marion Bereiter joined the staff. Karen and Marion remain as the two full time property managers for Associates West Real Estate Seattle and in the fall of 2017, an additional association manager Chris Brooks joined our team.

In 1998 John Wunder sold his interest in the company now known as The Prudential Northwest Realty and he and his brother Rob Wunder (a real estate appraiser) purchased a condominium office space in the Granada Condominium. At the same time, a long time Associates West client developed one of his properties into a condominium. These two events resulted in Associates West broadening its management services to include condominium homeowner associations.

Presently, Marion Bereiter is responsible for all rental/lease property management while Chris Brooks and Karen O’Brien handle association management (HOA & COA) responsibilities. Each team member is fully capable of filling in and overlapping for each other when necessary.

Associates West Real Estate Seattle, Inc. is a licensed real estate brokerage in the State of Washington, with John, Chris, Karen and Marion all maintaining their respective Designated and Associate Broker licenses and therefore subject to random audits with the State Department of Licensing.

The philosophy of Associates West Real Estate Seattle is to provide professional, personalized service to a select number of clients, with its primary focus in the West Seattle community.
